Oslo JDS Ski Jump

JDS has designed the new ski jump in Oslo. its pretty awesome. the shot from far away is from the opera house, zoomed in as far as my shakey hands would allow. we took a metro to a bus to get there. the bus just kept winding up Norwegian mountains. When we got there we found a small ropes course a foot or two off the ground. Being children, Matt, Cass, and I completed it..or most of it. There were a bunch of people walking around the ski lift. maybe 50? its a large area. but to get there we had to walk around the site to where there was a gap in the gate. kinda sketch. we walked all around. Then we decided that we should walk to the top of the stands. You can see the steep concrete bleachers to the side of the jump in one of the photos. yea. we made it up there, and walked all up under the thing. Then when we were climbing back down security came and threw us out. The place is still kinda under construction. the only thing we really understood of the guards english was "faster." the rest of the site was almost empty now too haha. so worth it. here are the pics.

Oslo Opera House

Went to Oslo. ima break it down in three parts: Opera House, Ski Lift, People.
The first thing we saw when the boat lands is the opera house. its rotated differently than i expected in the harbor, but its still an awesome buildings. It was fun to walk around and explore. My friends started exploring the upper levels inside and then security came haha. Ill let the pictures speak for themselves.

Home Is Where the Heart Is

Last night turned into an impromptu pancake party in my Kitchen. Danish pancakes are more like crapes, and usually are a dessert thing, with ice cream and chocolade and jam. Its pretty rare to have all 10 or so of us in the kitchen at the same time.

These guys have made my time in Denmark amazing . Everyone I live with is in the picture except for my friend Muhammad. Each one is a good friend. When the time comes, the hardest part about leaving Denmark will by far be leaving some of them behind. Half of them are Danish, and the rest come from elsewhere: Estonia, Slovakia, Kenya, and Bangladesh.

They have made Denmark feel like Home.

Stranded in Berlin

Last weekend I went to Berlin with the rest of the Full Year students. It was a great trip. Saw buildings by Daniel Linberskim, Norman Foster, David Copperfield, Peter Eisanman, and many more. Also had some great food, including what is apparently the best Mexican food in Europe. It was amazing :) haven’t had a legit burrito in a long time. I also discovered that I really really like curry. Went to an incredible 4 story book and music story (picked up a special edition 3 disc ATB cd, and a small book of poetry and prose about the London Underground). I also explored some of the trendy shops of the city with the help of some friends who had been there before and knew where to go. Found a great printshop where I bought a silk screened poster of Berlin. Those of you who know me too well know that I have a weekness for handmade and printed things. Here is the poster, and the site for the shop: http://www.supalife.de/k2kiosk/1/2/3/index.php?lg=en&cy=de&ct=2&st=8&pt=530&wk=superg&sg=511. I got the poster in Yellow.

The trip was supposed to be from Friday to Sunday. But our flight back was delayed. And then after we had gotten to the gate, and saw the plane come in, they announced that our flight was cancelled! They said we may be able to catch a plane ‘the next day, or the day after’ hahaha. Ahhh. Long and short of it is that easy jet paid for our hotel for the night, and then the next day we were taxied to an airport on the other side of town, where we flew out on a different airline. Missed both my classes that day. It was great. Most of us had an essay due that day. I had written mine but not well, and most hadn’t started. So we were saved.

There is so much I could say about the trip. But I think I will just show you instead.
